Gen Z Teens

We provide support for adolescents ages 11 and up. Being a teenager is one of the most challenging times in our life span. Emotional and physical changes are constant, friendships often change and conflicts emerge with your parents and siblings. We help teens who are struggling with:

  • generalized anxiety disorder
  • social anxiety disorder
  • panic attacks
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • perfectionistic thinking patterns
  • frequent conflicts with parents
  • social isolation

Having a trusted adult outside of your family may feel more comfortable to talk with about these issues. We are here to help you figure out ways to have rewarding experiences during these years while you figure out who you are and who you want to become. Our sessions are confidential and we engage your family members as needed when you are ready to bring them into your world.

Anxiety

Is anxiety taking over your life? Does it feel like you can’t control it no matter how hard you try? Have you already tried therapy but found it ineffective?

If this sounds like you, we’re confident we can help. Our practice offers the most effective forms of treatment, to get the relief from anxiety that you deserve.

When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.

Often, these are the symptoms of anxiety:

  • Nervousness, restlessness or being tense
  • Feelings of danger, panic or dread
  • Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
  • Increased or heavy sweating
  • Trembling or muscle twitching
  • Weakness or lethargy
  • Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
  • Insomnia
  • Obsessions about certain ideas, a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past, a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder

Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears, learn how to relax, look at situations in a new, less frightening way, and develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.

Personal Addiction Counseling

More often than not, drug addictions start with experimental use of a drug in social situations. And for some people, the drug use becomes more frequent. As time passes, a person may feel the need to use more of a drug to get their desired high, and soon a person may need the drug to simply feel “good.”

Drug addiction symptoms and behaviors include, among others:

  • Feeling the need to use the drug regularly, which can be daily or multiple times a day
  • Having intense urges for the drug
  • Over time, needing more of the drug to get the same effect
  • Making certain that you maintain a supply of the drug
  • Not meeting obligations and work responsibilities
  • Doing things you wouldn’t normally do to get the drug, such as stealing
  • Focusing more and more time and energy on getting and using the drug
  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when not using the drug
  • Failed attempts to quit using the drug

If you can relate to any of the above symptoms or behaviors, it may be time to consider addiction counseling.

As addiction counselors, we will address the symptoms of your addiction and the related areas of impaired functioning, and together we’ll structure the time and content of your ongoing recovery.

We believe that there are many paths to successful recovery that will work with your goals and desires, and ensure you can make the life changes you want to make.
