"Sometimes we don't realize the desperate need for an intentional pause. In a world that constantly demands we show up differently, it can be easy to feel weighed down by our experiences, emotions, and expectations—both of ourselves and of others. In an attempt to perform, or even just to survive, we do our best to keep going. For a long time, I was stuck in this cycle too. Throughout my life, I have wrestled with my own experiences, emotions, and expectations, trying to find balance and cultivate a new path forward—trying to break generational cycles and rise above trauma. It was in the midst of this wrestling that I learned the importance of slowing down and creating a safe space to do the hard (but important) work of processing. As a social worker, advocate, and someone who has walked this path personally, I hope to continue cultivating a safe space for children, teens, young adults, and families as they are ready to take their first step towards reflection, healing, and growth."
